The verdict
The Ignite AirX is JTX’s flagship rower and it carries a 4.9-star retailer rating and the same build JTX supplies to gyms. It is a pure air rower, so resistance scales with how hard you pull, and a 10-point damper changes the character of the stroke from a light, quick boat to a heavy one. A nickel-plated steel chain and reinforced aluminium frame are made for repeated, intense use.
There is no touchscreen and no subscription, which for a lot of buyers is exactly the point. The console shows live drag factor alongside distance, speed, stroke rate, calories and watts, it is self-powered so there are no cables, and it separates into two pieces for storage. At £649, down from £799, it is the air rower to measure the rest against.

- Premium price for an air rower
Build and feel
This is where the Ignite AirX earns its price. The reinforced aluminium frame and nickel-plated steel chain are built for repeated, intense use, which is why JTX puts the same machine in commercial settings. On the floor it feels planted rather than tinny, and the air resistance gives the smooth, self-scaling catch that makes air rowers feel closest to a real boat.
The 10-point damper adjusts airflow to the flywheel, changing how each stroke feels rather than capping your effort. Whatever setting you choose, pulling harder always gives more resistance, which is what makes an air rower so good for intervals.
Console and connectivity
The JTX monitor covers distance, speed, stroke rate, calories and watts across eight workout modes, and crucially it shows live drag factor, which lets you fine-tune intensity and compare sessions consistently. It connects to Kinomap for scenic routes and structured workouts on your own device.
There is no built-in touchscreen, so if you want coached classes on a big display this is not the machine, the Echelon Row-7s is. What you get instead is a clean, capable console and no subscription.
Who it is for
Buy the JTX Ignite AirX if you want one gym-grade air rower that will last, from a brand with genuine warranties and UK support, and you are happy to follow your own sessions or use Kinomap rather than a built-in screen. If quiet matters more than responsiveness, a magnetic rower suits you better.
