The verdict
The SPORTNOW Workout Station stands out among budget machines by combining cable and bodyweight training. Alongside a 65kg weight stack driving a chest fly, chest press, leg extension, preacher curl and high and low pulleys, it adds a decline sit-up bench, a push-up stand and a dip station. That mix makes it a genuine all-rounder for varied home workouts rather than a pure cable machine.
It is a budget-brand machine sold direct by SPORTNOW, so temper expectations on finish and support, and at 225 by 175cm it needs a fair amount of space. But for £421.99 the combination of a 65kg stack and built-in bodyweight stations is hard to match on price, and the sit-up bench alone adds real value.
Strengths
- A 65kg stack plus bodyweight stations
- Decline sit-up bench with four height settings
- Push-up stand and dip station included
- Height-adjustable arm curl and elbow pads
- Room for more than one person to train
Watch-outs
- A budget-brand build and finish
- Sold direct by SPORTNOW, not a specialist fitness retailer
- A large 225 by 175cm footprint
- Maximum load of 110kg
Cable and bodyweight in one
The Workout Station’s selling point is versatility. The 65kg stack drives a full set of cable stations, chest fly, chest press, leg extensions, preacher pad curls and high and low pulleys, and on top of that you get a decline sit-up bench with four height settings, a push-up stand and a dip station. Few machines at this price let you move between cable work and bodyweight training on the same frame.
Ergonomic touches help, with a height-adjustable arm curl pad and elbow pads to suit different body types, and a thick padded seat and backrest. The layout is designed so more than one person can train around it at once.
Size, support and the caveats
The footprint is a substantial 225 by 175cm, standing 200cm tall, so it needs a garage or a dedicated space rather than a corner. Maximum load is 110kg. It is a budget-brand machine that requires assembly, and it is sold direct by SPORTNOW, so support and returns run through the brand rather than a specialist fitness retailer.
Who it is for
Buy the SPORTNOW Workout Station if you want to mix cable and bodyweight training on one machine and have the space for it. If you want a more compact machine, the SPORTNOW Weights Machine or the DKN Studio 7400 will suit better, and if you want a cage-style rig, the SPORTNOW All-in-One is the step up.
